Our son has a grandmother who he stays close to with daily phone calls, video chats, letters as well as visits. He also has an aunt and uncle on each side who is he close to along with cousins whom he loves to visit when he can. He also has a great aunt and great uncle who are like grandparents which he talks to and FaceTimes with frequently. With a small child, our house has become the place to gather, especially at his birthday, and Christmas. They are all looking forward to having a new little one in the family.
Our extended family are not the only ones looking forward to meeting and loving on this new little one. Our church family as well as the moms in Randi‘s mom group are all happily awaiting to love the new little one.
Our son participates in many loving traditions throughout the year. Birthdays, holidays, friends and family are all very important to our son.
Our son, loves to celebrate family birthdays with special decorations, helping to make special food, picking out and making gifts, and surprising the birthday person, all to make them feel special. Making someone else’s birthday special is just as fun for our son as celebrating his own birthday.
Holidays are another time for our family to enjoy special traditions. Halloween is a time when our son talks a lot about dressing up his new sibling and teaching them about traditions like trick or treating, harvest festivals, visiting the retirement center, and the Halloween fairy. The weeks leading up to Thanksgiving are a fun time for our family to talk about what and who we are thankful for, and to name the reasons we are thankful for the special people in our lives. Christmas is a special time for our son as he looks forward to seeing relatives that come to visit.
Our son has learned to be very thoughtful of others, and enjoys making cards and pictures for his special friends at church and school, and his relatives that don’t live close by. He also loves to make food for daddy, especially on pancake or waffle night. He is the expert stirrer!
Our son also talks constantly about sharing what he has learned with his new sibling. He is as full of love for his new sibling as we are.
